All-Star Superman
Sherin and Julian get together to share everything pop culture-related on their minds, starting with Fantom Comics’ recent book club event, which focused on the All-Star Superman comic by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely. They break down the origins of Superman, the comic’s influence on James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film, and how audience desires shape storytelling.
Reacher S3 x Commando
With the debut of Reacher S3, it’s got Sherin talking (and writing—her review is up now). She’s got a whole lotta love for this chapter of the series and wants to see more from Alan Ritchson. That leads her into a rather Riotus discussion about Commando with Keke Palmer opposite Ritchson and the rest her dream casting for a revitalized film.
The Monkey, Lesbian Space Princess + More Recs
Julian then shouts out the highly-enjoyable horror movie The Monkey starring Theo James, based on the Stephen King story (check out his review). Speaking of Stephen King, Sherin adds her reading suggestion The Jaunt, before diving into the bombastic animation of Lesbian Space Princess (read her review for more of her thoughts). BookTok + Book Talk
BookTok and romantasy are still going strong (and long may they reign), so it’s time to revisit Sherin and Alex’s conversation about the industry at large. They discuss first-person POV, learning from stories, and the othering of characters and narratives.
