Meet Our Rioters

Sherin Nicole

Sherin Nicole may be a covert agent. There are whispers that the CIA offered her a scholarship (but that’s classified). By day, she’s an agent provocateur, marketing maven, and brand specialist. By night, she produces content on the Geek Girl Riot radio show. As a former paranormal romance writer (under her secret identities), she’s published three novels and several novellas. One of which was listed on Book Riot’s “100 Must-Read Romantic Comedies”.  Another is in the ‘Bloody Fabulous’ anthology (Prime Books, 2012). You can also read her words in Fireside Magazine, on Cast of Wonders, in the ‘Wayward Kindred’ comics anthology, and on Escape Pod. Culturally Sherin is half American, half British, and very southern—right down to the accent. Government reports show a residence in DC, but Sherin spends most of her time in the worlds she writes and she hopes to meet you there.

She likes iced tea, all things pop culture, and writing like she’s an American.

Philip Jean-Pierre

I drew my first picture at 12, wrote my first story at 16, and got my first rejection letter at 20. As a UX/UI designer I talk to, learn from, and understand a client’s active and passive expectations. Raised on Octavia Butler, Langston Hughes, Jack Kirby and often referred to as “The Talent,” beyond all reasonable thought, I remain an illustrator and writer with a focus on dramatic storytelling—noir, occult, and things that go bump in the night. In geekery and for idobi, I am the blathering blatherskite of a reviewer and pop-culture vulture (with more snark than brains and the kilt to match).

Drew Bittner

Drew Bittner has written for Comics Scene, Starlog, Steve Jackson Games, TSR Inc., and WildStorm, where he co-created a popular card game. He’s been a book reviewer since 1986, a husband since 2005 and a father since 2009. That last explains his sleepy, disheveled appearance.

Day Al-Mohamed

Day Al-Mohamed has a decades-long career focused on disability policy in a variety of legislative and executive arenas. She most recently completed her tenure as the White House Director of Disability Policy and currently serves in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) at the US Department of Labor. Outside of her policy work, Al-Mohamed is a regular host on idobi Radio’s Geek Girl Riot with an audience of 100,000 listeners and is a Founding Member of FWD-Doc (Documentary Filmmakers with Disabilities). She is currently working on a docu-series of disabled leaders for American Masters/PBS digital, and is a proud producer of the feature documentary “unseen”. Day was named a DOC NYC 2021 Documentary New Leader and was part of the NBC 2022 Original Voices Fellowship class. Day lives in Washington DC with her wife, N.R. Brown and her guide dog.

Kat Bittner

Kat Bittner works in project management by day and otherwise she can be found at an art museum, a concert, or effusively talking about kpop and romance. She’s passed on the same energy to her child, Cub, where they talk about both their interests in Geek Girl Riot’s Kat and Cub segments.
