Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, just released his new film Bando Stone & the New World trailer. The trailer first appeared earlier this weekend on the IMAX showings of A Quiet Place: Day One. From the trailer, we see Glover play Bando Stone, a recording artist seemingly alone on an island and not knowing what’s happening—very beginning of 28 Days Later like. We see him trying to drop mail off at the post office and then scavenging around a store for clothing. He meets a woman played by Jessica Allain, who he decides to team up with her child (Legend) as they try to survive this wild, crazy landscape that feels like the fantastical looks at reality his work is known for. The trailer’s “What Are You When The World Ends?” tagline is very eye-grabbing. The trailer shows this project is expanding Glover’s range to the feature film world. The feature comes from his Gilga production company and was written by Evi Wilder with Glover as the director; the film is supposed to be released sometime later this year. The film is also supposed to be soundtracked by Glover under the name Childish Gambino, one of the two albums he said he’d release this year. Its first single, Lithonia, is stated to be released on July 2^nd.
