Earlier tonight, avoiding the treacherous sun, AMC Network made an announcement. One that the Children of the Damned have been waiting for since the launch of the ARIU (Anne Rice Immortal Universe). In Ballroom 20 at San Diego Comic-Con International (SDCC) they gave us a peek into the darkly sexy rockstar rebellion of THE VAMPIRE LESTAT.
The second book in The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice will ignite as the inspiration behind the upcoming third season of Interview with the Vampire on AMC and AMC+. Prepare to be enthralled by the seductive tale of Lestat de Lioncourt’s rebirth as a musician when he unveils his immortal past. An odyssey that spans centuries and dances through the shadows of desire in the book. Fully embodied by Sam Reid, we’re anticipating forbidden love, betrayals, new music, and existential yearnings that will lead our coldblooded but sensitive vampire out of the darkness.
We’ve been waiting for this one. And the teaser trailer below seems like a promise that our—I’m going to say “longings”—will be fulfilled.
EDIT July 31
How did I miss that tattoo? Being completely bouncy with anticipation, I watched the teaser again today and . . . this time a tattoo jumped out and ‘said it to my face.’ What did it say? “Armand told the truth” Go ahead and unpack that.

If you’re wondering whether Season 3 will follow the second book, we don’t have the answer. Yet. But we do know that Lestat’s telepathic speech is word for word from the opening of The Vampire Lestat:
“I am the vampire Lestat. I’m immortal. More or less. The light of the sun, the sustained heat of an intense fire these things might destroy me. But then again, they might not.”
There’s no release date yet, but we can wait a little longer.
As a bonus or maybe an apology for the wait, AMC offered up a blooper reel from Season 2:
