Hulu and Glen Powell released a first look at the star’s upcoming half-hour comedy Chad Powers today. Giving off serious Owen Wilson x Tom Cruise vibes in the promo image, the first look also included a description. One that reminds us of the greatest hero of sports comedy. Much like Ted Lasso, a character Jason Sudeikis originally created to promote England’s Premier League for NBC Sports, Chad Powers is based on a sketch from NFL Films and Omaha Productions that aired on ESPN+ as part of the Eli Manning’s Places series.
Hulu added, the half-hour comedy comes from co-creators and executive producers Glen Powell and Michael Waldron. Eli Manning serves as executive producer alongside Peyton Manning and ESPN. Chad Powers not only stars Powell, he is also co-creating, co-writing, and executive producing.
Here’s the set up for the upcoming series: When bad behavior nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday’s college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers., the half-hour comedy from 20th Television will stream on Hulu. Powell and Waldron co-wrote the pilot.
