You can call me a sentimental fangirl, but the first look at Superman (2025) gave me chills. James Gunn gets it. This is the Man of Steel, you can feel it in every beat of this teaser trailer: Superman face down in the snow with a bloody lip (who is he fighting?), a little boy raising the crest on a flag and praying for his hero’s help, that kiss!
We may not know what the story will bring, but we can trust that DC Comics‘ finest are in good hands. The only plea I have for Gunn and Peter Safran—the co-heads of DC Studios—is to finally gift us with a World’s Finest type of storyline and to read/watch everything Dwayne McDuffie created. Including McDuffie’s animated adaptation of the Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely comic, All-Star Superman. Also, of course, Justice League Unlimited. IYKYK
Oh my fluffy heart, Krypto is here! That’s it. K-R-Y-P-T-O is too cute and you know the CGI effects on the Pup of Steel will only get better as we get closer to release day.
Set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025, the trailer showcases David Corenswet stepping into the iconic role of Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan as the intrepid reporter and love of his life, Lois Lane. The Daily Planet and Lexcorp/LuthorCorp are as accurate as if we leaped into a comic, and after a year of Nicholas Hoult movies, the quick glance at his Lex Luthor is all we need to anticipate villainous greatness.
Other sightings include Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. There’s more but what I need to do right now is watch it again—and cry. Yeah, I’mma watch it again and then probably again.
