Superman (2025) Thoughts On the Trailer: These Are the Things that Turn Boy Scouts into Super men

The new Superman (2025) trailer has dropped and, yeah, we’re kind of thinking we’re back. Here are the first thoughts that got us hyped for this summer blockbuster.

Lois Lane: Journalism’s Finest

Our girl Lois (Rachel Brosnahan) is in her investigative journalism bag, and we love to see it! The trailer shows her dynamic with Clark/Superman, highlighting the real-world implications of superheroics that our Boy Scout needs to wrestle with.

The Engineer: The Authority on the Horizon

María Gabriela De Faría‘s The Engineer comes through with buzzsaw-flinging glory. Her presence makes The Authority movie feel more tangible in setting up a whole new corner of the DC Studios.

Hawkgirl, you look good, girl

Isabela Merced‘s Hawkgirl is serving looks and action. We already knew her suit was fire. This new trailer shows her soaring through the skies, mace in hand, making us hope the DC Studios Universe is ready to embrace Shayera’s full comic book potential—oh wait, that’s Kendra—our take remains unchanged. Give us all the Hawkgirls.

Lex Luthor, the Baron of Bald-headed Villainy

Nicholas Hoult is out here proving he can do anything. Following the iconic portrayals by Clancy Brown and Michael Rosenbaum isn’t an easy flex, but Hoult’s take on the brilliant billionaire baddie looks like one to watch.

Family First

Dominic Toretto would be proud, because it’s all about family: Ma and Pa Kent are on the scene to ground this alien man in his humanity—no matter which name he goes by: Clark Kent, Kal-el, Man of Steel, Boy Scout…

That Voice Change Though

Did you notice how he changed his voice from Clark to Superman when it was time to stand on business. David Corenswet is bringing some serious Christopher Reeve energy to this dual role, switching from Clark’s shy sweetness to Superman‘s shoulder brushing confidence.

The Creative Vision

James Gunn‘s approach to Superman looks like the one we’ve been waiting for. With Corenswet donning the cape and Brosnahan bringing Lois Lane to life, the film’s cast includes Edi Gathegi (oh hi, Mister Terrific), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern Guy Gardner), and more. We’re trusting DC Studios to honor Superman’s legacy while revitalizing DC’s cinematic Universe.
