We’re only a week into 2025 and our Rioters have already run out of F’s to give. Sherin, Julian, and Monique get together for one of GGR’s infamous Trainwrecks episodes, with a sprinkling of crash-outs and shout-outs for good measure.
Interesting Times & Strike Blues
The news cycle keeps churning out wild headlines and our intrepid Rioters are ready and waiting to break ’em down. From the Walmart Birkin bag, to the latest AI mishaps, to all those government billionaire buyouts, it’s safe to say we’re tired of living in “interesting times.”
From there, Julian makes his bold Superman proclamation, while Monique shares her views on how last year’s strikes will affect the upcoming film slate (for more of her invaluable insight, check out her Strike Blues episode series of GGR). That leads them into a conversation about the glut of streaming services and how Hollywood needs to catch up.
Superman Trailer & Matlock Mysteries
Monique rewinds to Drake’s supreme year of foolishness, before Sherin and Julian momentarily derail the trainwreck episode to celebrate James Gunn’s new Superman trailer. That moves into a discussion about the rise of cozy mysteries, including the new Matlock, and our desire for “same universe, different story”.
Beyoncé Bowl & What’s Up Next
The hosts get into Beyoncé Bowl, which takes them on a roundabout journey through Americana and Black American cultural influence, the pandemic and how short people’s memories are, and gentrified food trends. They close out the show with some political shenanigans, the internet’s obsession with Luigi Mangione, and what we need to be watching out for in 2025.
