We chat with Cinco Paul about Schmigadoon!’s stage adaptation, before Sherin throws the mic to Brandon Troy to chat Oscar nominations. Finally, we dig into season 3 of Harlem.
Whachudoin’? with Cinco Paul
Cinco Paul is a pro at writing screenplay hits, including the sparkling Apple TV+ show Schmigadoon! With the news of Schmigadoon! coming to the stage, Sherin and special guest host Nell Minow call up Cinco for a delightful chat all about adapting his excellent series. He talks about working with the cast on such a multi-layered show, his roots in musical theater, and the dream ballet (IYKYK). Schmigadoon! the musical will premiere at the Eisenhower Theater at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. on January 31.
Oscar Noms with Brandon Troy of Movers & Shakers Unlimited
Over the weekend, Sherin joined her pal Brandon Troy of Movers & Shakers Unlimited for a segment on his show This Week in Pop Culture. They dig into their 97th Oscars predictions, including the snubs and shocking picks. During their conversation, they highlight the way horror is used for social commentary in recent filmmaking, as well as the actors who deserve their flowers.
Harlem S3
Julian jumps on with Sherin to discuss the third and final season of Harlem, which has new episodes streaming weekly on Prime Video. While there wasn’t quite enough time to explore the series fully, our Rioters overall enjoyed this season and they talk about the growth of the characters, the relationships, and what they wanted to see more of. Sherin says, “It’s hard to watch Harlem say goodbye so quickly, but it’s a farewell party that remembers the best times of this 4-woman friendship and gives you closure that they’re living-life-lovely off stage.”
