Geek Girl Riot Replay: Kravitz Family Fineness, the MCU’s Doctor Doom and the Conversation from There

Sherin and Julian had such a riot chatting about Blink Twice on last week’s episode that they kept the fire going—for a whole new episode this week!

In case you missed it, our Rioters have been commenting on the fineness of the Kravitz family—with the additions of Jason Momoa and Channing Tatum. This leads them into Tatum’s stellar appearance as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine and how these superheroes need their own pocket universe within the MCU. From supercuts to sex pudding jokes, there’s a whole lot to discuss and the conversation gets Riotus (geddit?)

Speaking of superheroes, their convo takes a turn with the recent D23 announcement that Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom. Do Sherin & Julian think it’s trolling or just a troll-brained move? They’ve got side-eye and super-opinions that span across the MCU and the Spider-verse.

In fact, Sherin and Julian have a lot of issues with the way storytelling has been playing out on-screen for a while now, especially as they look to future releases. With Agatha All Along coming and the rise of musicals, our Rioters dig into the decision to capitalize on nostalgia instead of building new characters, the cancellation of many good properties, and what Hollywood often misunderstands about good storytelling.
