San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2025 – Boots on the Ground (Where the Fans Are At), Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, Eyes of Wakanda

Julian tells us about his time at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, before our Rioters dive into Eyes of Wakanda and Shinobi: Art of Vengeance.

Comic-Con-palooza feat. Mark Rosewater of Magic: The Gathering
Julian opens the show with an overview of the cool things he experienced at the Con, featuring a few Sherin Sidebars™️. From Labubus to Peacemaker, Predator: Badlands to Star Wars, there were plenty of activations and booths to experience, which kept Julian booked and busy. One of the highlights was his conversation with Mark Rosewater, head designer of Magic: The Gathering, which you can hear during this segment. They chat about getting started with the game and choosing boosters, their Final Fantasy series, and how you can play MTG in your own way.

Panels + Goodies
Of course, being the big cheese of comic-cons, there were plenty of announcements to fill our geeky hearts. Julian gives a rundown of the DC panels he attended and shares some exciting Batman news. He also gives props to the new comics publisher Neon Ichiban, before digging into more of the merch, including a Hasbro breakfast bonanza and some Gundam goodies.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance + Eyes of Wakanda
Beyond the hallowed halls of SDCC, there has been lots of other news to keep our Rioters talking, starting with Sega’s new entry to their beloved franchise, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. Then Sherin and Julian dive into Eyes of Wakanda, the animated Marvel series that is out now on Disney+ (check out Julian’s review and Sherin’s review too). They talk about the character design and animation, the influences, and how Eyes of Wakanda fits into the MCU as well as pop culture at large. Sherin and Julian also shout out Gachiakuta on Crunchyroll and WWE: Unreal on Netflix along the way.
