The stakes are high on this week’s episode of WILL TRENT: “It Was a Meat Cute”. Will and Ava are out on a caper. I’m serious, Ava attracts crime the way toddlers attract “sticky.” The real dire situation, however, surrounds Ormwood and a man he helped put on death row. There’s about nine hours before the execution, and something about this case doesn’t look right.
While Will and Ava are out being ridiculous with, forgive me for this, an urn full of Meat Loaf—the man, not the meal—Ormwood, Angie, and Faith, get a little help from Amanda, to frantically search for the truth. Otherwise, a possibly innocent man might die. There are no second chances with this one.
We have a guest star on this week’s episode. Ilfenesh Hadera is an attorney trying to stop the execution. Maybe it’s the romantic in me, but I hope she’ll be around for a while and not, you know, blow up or anything. Yes, I’m still mad about Cricket. Hadera’s Joanne and Ormie have that sudden, catalytic kind of chemistry. Hold on to that smile because when Joanne describes lethal injections, it will make you tremble with horror.
Julia Chan’s Ava is really good for Will; she makes him spontaneous. Unless microwaving spaghetti without a lid is rebellious where you come from. Ava also brings out the hustler in Will, the guy who used to run the streets with Rafael (Antwayn Hopper), but without the trauma. It’s cute.

The episode is cute, too, when it isn’t absolutely tragic. That’s the dichotomy of WILL TRENT. Will gets into some shenanigans while the rest of the cast does dire work, revealing what’s wrong in the system and how good people might fix it.
I like Ava, but I’m hoping she isn’t Will’s endgame. I haven’t read the books, so don’t tell me. In the meantime, ain’t nothing wrong with a good time. Will seems to benefit from every close relationship he has. I love that for him. On the other side of the plot, Ormie and Amanda‘s relationship deepens. Aww.
I won’t tell you how it ends. I like you too much to do that to you, but it’s good. Proving Ormie is one of the best. Can you imagine if they made him evil, like I hear he was in the books? We would have missed out.
Friends, I watch a lot of shows—it’s kind of my job—when I’m not watching movies (which is also kind of my job). Because of that, I assure you, WILL TRENT never disappoints.

Come and get this “Meat Cute”. There’ll be pancake jelly.
Oh, and did I tell you: Betty smells like grapefruit. Just thought you should know.
