Pour yourself a cocktail and grab some popcorn ’cause Hulu’s serving up some fiery new drama. Dress My Tour is a fashion competition that pits designers against each other to create hot new statement looks for musicians like JoJo Siwa, Ty Dolla $ign, and Paula Abdul, to name a few. All to win $100,000 and a chance to prove their star-dressing power.
Kate Upton sparkles as the show’s host, bringing her fashion prowess along with costume designer Marina Toybina and creative director Laurieann Gibson who serve as mentors and judges. They each provide constructive and super helpful feedback throughout the challenges, giving the designers the boost they need when they’re deep in the creative process. But that doesn’t stop the contestants from being messy when they talk trash about each other in private confessionals.
The competition—and the cattiness—is turned up to 11, keeping the innovation fierce. Each episode sees new twists to throw the designers off their game and see how they’ll handle the turbulent intersection of the fashion and music industries. And things get really personal when the designers also get to vote on who they think should be eliminated, which is brutal to watch. With added pressure from impressing each artist, who weigh in on their fave looks, Dress My Tour is as intense in feelings as it is in the designs. You may find yourself rooting for some designers to win…or rooting for others to fail—that’s just the cutthroat nature of working at this level. It’s not a relaxing watch but if you love throwing shade then you’ll revel in all the drama, especially when it means new serves (or new fails).
