In case you missed it over the weekend, Disney revealed the new trailer for Moana 2 and it’s an exciting and heartfelt teaser of all the adventures to come from our favorite crew. The film’s stars Auli‘i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson took to the D23 stage to make the announcement and lead the “chee hoo!” chant. Cravalho even treated the audience to a live performance of “We’re Back”, one of the film’s new songs, featuring dancers and drummers from Nonosina Polynesia under the direction of Tiana Liufau (who provided animation reference choreography for both Moana films).
The event also revealed some of the additional voice cast, including Hualālai Chung, David Fane, and Rose Matafeo as Moana’s new crew members; Awhimai Fraser as a mysterious new character named Matangi; Gerald Ramsey as Moana’s ancestor Tautai Vasa; and Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda as Moana’s little sister Simea. Watch the trailer below for a sneak-peek into all the seafaring action—Moana 2 hits theaters on November 27!
