Today is Outbreak Day—the anniversary of when the cordyceps virus began—and to…uhh…celebrate, HBO has released a teaser for The Last of Us season 2, along with some beautiful posters by Greg Ruth.
The upcoming season will take place five years after the events of season 1, that will see everything Joel and Ellie ran from finally catch up to them. It’s a chilling teaser, showing peaceful moments where the characters find a reprieve from the horrors of the world—but we all know that can never last.
Joining Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria, will be some additions to the cast for S2, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Catherine O’Hara also guest stars (and she steals the spotlight in the teaser).
The second season of The Last of Us will debut on HBO and stream on Max in 2025.
