Paramount Pictures has officially announced the ensemble cast for the highly anticipated adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi‘s bestselling YA fantasy novel, Children of Blood and Bone, set to hit IMAX theaters on January 15, 2027
Leading the charge are Thuso Mbedu as Zélie, Amandla Stenberg as Amari, Damson Idris as Inan, and Tosin Cole as Tzain. But that’s just the front line, there’s an incredible full lineup behind them featuring Viola Davis, Cynthia Erivo, Idris Elba, Lashana Lynch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, and more, with additional castings expected from an open call in Nigeria.
Directed by the talented Gina Prince-Bythewood, known for her work on The Woman King, The Old Guard, and Love and Basketball, this adaptation takes the world of Orïsha from the page to living colors. Prince-Bythewood shared, “I am so honored and excited to bring Tomi’s Children of Blood and Bone and the vibrant world of Orisha to life. Our incredible ensemble reflects the whole of the diaspora. This is where our magic lies.”
With production set to kick off in South Africa soon, fans of the book series can expect a visually stunning and culturally rich portrayal of Zélie’s quest to reclaim the magic stolen from her people.

We’re about to go on a journey filled with adventure, magic, and fantasy.
