Finally, a Green Lantern adaptation we can get on board with. HBO has given us the first look at Kyle Chandler as Lantern legend Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as the new recruit John Stewart in Lanterns. The series follows “two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”
In a press release, executive producer and showrunner Chris Mundy shared: “From the start, our driving force has been to deliver a layered drama – rooted in nuanced storytelling and rich world building – that balances tension and mystery with honest, authentic emotion. The goal is to create something that feels timeless and grounded without sacrificing the magic of the source material.”
An HBO Original production in association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, Lanterns will also star Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, and Ulrich Thomsen. The first two episodes are directed by James Hawes, with Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov also tapped to direct. The series is executive produced by Mundy, Damon Lindelof, James Gunn, Peter Safran, Tom King, Ron Schmidt, and Hawes. Production is underway at the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, so stay tuned for more details!
