Get into our Rioters’ 2026 Sundance picks, along with our first reactions to Pillion and Send Help.
Sundance Last Looks
Sherin and Mae have been booked & busy reviewing this year’s Sundance films, and they’re taking you through some of their top picks. They begin with the devastating gut punch of Josephine, before moving to the charming father-daughter bonding in Hold Onto Me. They also shout out the delightful surprise of Ha-chan, Shake Your Booty! as well as the narrative-driven study in contrast, LADY. Then the hosts close out with the cathartic emotional journey of Bedford Park and the teen movie-inspired Extra Geography.
Pillion
Our Rioters have big thoughts and bigger feelings about Harry Lighton’s new movie Pillion, starring Harry Melling and Alexander Skarsgård. This bittersweet “dom com” puts “forced proximity” into a whole new perspective, and Sherin and Jasmine get into the delicious tension, what they wanted more of, and the community authenticity that will make this A24 movie a hit.
Send Help
Speaking of “forced proximity,” Sam Raimi’s new film Send Help has that in spades. Kwesi joins Sherin to give you their First Reactions right out of the Motion Picture Association screening they recently attended in DC. Starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, this movie is bloody, gross, and bombastic—and our Rioters get into the acting, the themes, and why that ending might not work as well as you’d want.
