The Devil Wears Prada 2
Sherin, Julian, and Mae tell Monique all about The Devil Wears Prada 2 and if it’s a sequel worthy of the hype. They dive into the character arcs and growth, the cameos, the way it portrays current publishing culture, and, naturally, the style. Of course, a fashion film isn’t without its critique, and they also get into whether the romance subplots worked, and if they enjoyed the overall storytelling (read Julian’s full review here).
I Love Boosters
For the second half of the show, our Rioters show some love to Boots Riley’s new crime comedy, I Love Boosters, featuring an all-star cast of Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Eiza González, LaKeith Stanfield, Will Poulter, Don Cheadle, and Demi Moore. They shout out the characters and their portrayals, the avant-garde fashion, the smart writing, and the escapism. Monique saw a screening of I Love Boosters at the 50th Atlanta Film Festival, and she shares some of the insights from Boots Riley himself about this movie, too.
