Why has Queer Eye always got us crying at the club? “When I Say Sexy, You Say” might have a fun title but that doesn’t mean you won’t be tearing up by the end. In this episode, we meet Anh, an executive chef who pours her whole life into running a New Orleans restaurant. She’s hard-working and passionate, always quick to laugh and inspire, but she needs a little TLC to help her see how much she brightens every room she’s in—cue the Fab Five!
As a Vietnamese American, Anh wants to embrace and share her culture with others; food is her way of connecting to her mother, whom she cooked with throughout her childhood. She lost her mom a few years ago, and her father quickly remarried without telling her—and she has carried that grief and guilt with her for years. That kind of loss can shape a person, and it’s time for Anh to move forward on her healing journey.

Karamo sets up a call between Anh and her estranged father, where she tells him about all the hurt she’s been carrying around, and they finally begin to rekindle that connection they once had. Every person who has had a difficult relationship with a parent will feel this one so deeply; when complex intergenerational and intercultural levels collide, this conversation is healing in many ways.
Bobby’s transformation of Anh’s house is also moving; he turns her home into a peaceful house of relaxation. And she gets a new cut and style too, helping to boost her confidence and own every aspect of her life. Anh closes out the season by honoring her mom with a traditional Vietnamese meal for her restaurant full of diners; watching her in her element will leave you celebrating. She’s got this! And so does Queer Eye—the Fab Five have pulled off another fabulous season.
