Episode Appetizer: Queer Eye – “Sowing the Seeds” [season 7 finale]

Can you believe Queer Eye is going seven seasons strong?! And with the final episode of the season, it proves they’re only growing with love and gratitude. In “Sowing the Seeds” we meet Michael, a young Black man who’s leading his community in sustainable farming, and deserves all the love he gives out.

Michael runs a non-profit called Recirculating Farms that serves his New Orleans community with fresh, local, and accessible produce and jobs, which is an amazing cause. But Michael needs some help realizing just how much good he brings to the world; he struggles with a deep fear of failure, which is stopping him from going after things he really wants, including applying to study environmental law.

That’s where the Fab Five come in—they sweep into Michael’s life and show him just how incredible he is, starting with his wardrobe and a fresh cut, which need to be brought out of his high school days and into something new. They also tackle his home, which has too much of the outside in—they organize all his crops and plant supplies and bring a sense of peace to the areas where he should be resting.

They also introduce Michael to some mentors from the organization 100 Black Men, which is designed to uplift and support young people in the community. Michael has often struggled with his mental health, and with asking for help. The conversation they have will bring tears to your eyes as you watch Michael feel safe enough to open up. And they highlight the ways we all need to do better to make every space more accessible and welcoming.

Michael’s transformation is from the inside out—all he really needed was for people to believe in him, to give him the confidence to believe in himself. And you’ll be cheering for him—and the Fab Five—every step of the way.

Queer Eye S7 bows out with a beautifully poignant episode—long may it continue!
