The Passing Winter – Episode 406
Sophie’s spur-of-the-moment choice starts to look like a problem. Benedict adjusts to a new heir and feels all his feelings, and a glittering ball gets derailed by breaking news.

In the Aftermath of the Afterglow“I broke that promise for you, and your stupid hair, and your stupid eyes, and that stupid smile.”
Lady Danbury:
“You are the Queen Whisperer after all.”
Kate, Anthony, and Edmond:
The best couple. You cannot convince me otherwise.
John Stirling, the Most Precious Cinnamon Roll
John’s face when he realizes Francesca and Michaela have become friends. So sweet.
Posy. That’s it, just Posy.

Violet Doesn’t Like You, Araminta
“I have always found Lady Penwood unkind,” and ”Her vulgar shoe clips.”
Lady Featherington misses Varley.
And, Finally She’s Back:
Hey, Cressida. Love those bows, Lady Penwood. The former Miss Cowper turns marrying well into pink paradise.
Will’s Advice to Alice and them cuddling.
Benedict and Sophie’s Conservatory Retreat in the garden.

Benedict‘s confession about his sexuality, and Sophie’s acceptance, followed by her own confession about her parents.
Lady Danbury x Benedict
So much subtext, so much yearning.
Francesca and John are moon-gazing, while he puts her mind at ease about the amazing woman she is.
The Queen letting Lady Dunbury go is the ultimate sign of love and friendship.
Lord Anderson Being Dashing and putting Violet’s heart at ease, then proposing.
A Farewell to John
Although I knew it was coming. Especially when John said he was going to bed until dinner. It still hurts. John and Francesca are one of the biggest delights of the last two seasons. I’m mad we didn’t get to see his face or even a slack hand at the end. I’m not sure why the scene was played that way, but it would have been nice for Francesca to hold her first love one more time.
NOTE: Some people have asked how John died. He had a brain aneurysm. That was the cause of his constant headaches—a blood vessel burst in his brain and killed him.
