Welcome to the most wonderful time of the year! Hallmark Holiday Movie Time!!!!
As some of you may know, every year Day and Renee do a Hallmark Watch where we try to see as many films as we can. And this year we are going to give quick little reviews for some of those movies. And we will review some cookies along the way too, because what is better than tea and cookies and a Christmas movie? So welcome to the GGR Hallmark Journal.
Day: This year we see our beloved Hallmark taking a stab at the reality television genre with the super cute Finding Mr. Christmas.
Renee: A group of *fans self* fine, young, attractive men all compete to see who will become Hallmark’s next leading man and star in his very own feature film. How will they compete? With the cheesiest and sweetest tasks Jonathan Bennett (the host) can come up with.
Day: I love that Jonathan and Lead Judge Melissa Peterman – as well as their Hallmark-regular guests – seem to be having such a fun time. Their enthusiasm is infectious!
Renee: Episode 1 was all about ugly Christmas sweaters and getting to know the guys. We have some that are older, some that are not from the U.S. and all of them have muscles for days. All of them have appealing bits, but I’ve already got a favorite!
Day: No, no, no. The best part of the first episode was the Paired Script Competition where two men had to basically act like two suitors at a wreath-making class competing for the love of their instructor, the lovely Erin Cahill of this year’s Christmas series Holidazed (which premieres November 14th btw).
Renee: This is such a great show, my only problem is that I’m so used to dating shows I keep expecting them to be going on dates and such. LOL! It is full of the sweetest, most earnest cheesefest on the planet, and honestly I can’t wait for next week.
Tonight we splurged and I made Everything Cookies with my daughter and wife so we could have a super extra treat for this series! They are just the right mix of salty and sweet, with a lot of options to put in or leave out.
Day: And because they’re so good we cannot keep them a secret. You can find the recipe here – https://nrbrown.com/2019/03/everything-cookies/. My tea of choice for tonight’s viewing is Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas Cardamom Cinnamon from the Republic of Tea.
We’re loving this series and will definitely be settling in, snug and cozy, to watch all the episodes as we get closer to “Finding Mr. Christmas” with a score of five cookies.
