Welcome to another installment of our GGR Hallmark Journal!

This year, Renee and Day are giving quick little reviews for some of the Hallmark movies coming out this year. And they will review some cookies along the way too, because what is better than tea and cookies and a Christmas movie?
Day: We have been waiting all season for Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs’ Love Story. Our household is a die hard Chiefs fan and has been for decades. Especially as Renee is from Missouri.
Renee: I come from a long line of Chiefs fans. My family watched many dry seasons with wins few and far between…seeing them get all this love now is great!
This movie was so cute – the story is fun, the cameos are adorable (Donna Kelce was a star!!!), and having football as the backdrop is such a great idea for a movie. They kept it true to Kansas City with the BBQ references and some of the sights, which made it feel more real to a native Missiourian like me.

Day: The love story was sweet, and I felt like the two leads really had to grow into their relationship (which was the point of the story). The added drama of the contest and then the later complication (no spoilers for XMAS!) really made the movie engaging.
And the end was a delight…it was moving and lovely.

Overall, it was really pretty good! (Day loved it, and Renee thought it was cute — so pretty good is a nice middle road for us.)
The cookie tonight was Almond Horns, Renee grew up in an Italian neighborhood and used to get these at a treat from the local bakery. Now she makes them on her own using the very best Almond Horn (Mandelhornchen) recipe out there from The Daring Gourmet.
And tonight’s tea is Rustov’s “Richmond Blend” which is the most hardcore cinnamon tea we’ve ever had. When you open the container you can smell it across the house. It is so warm and Christmasy with a big spoon of sugar, and it goes perfect with the almond horns.
