Have you ever wondered what if Night Court and BoJack Horseman had a baby? (Yeah, that would be really weird, but go with it.) Netflix’s zany late-night comedy animation, Strip Law, comes from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert alum Cullen Crawford with a stacked voice cast, including Adam Scott, Janelle James, Stephen Root, Shannon Gisela, and Keith David.
The series follows Lincoln Gumb (Scott), a down-on-his-luck lawyer in Las Vegas who figures out he just isn’t charismatic enough to win cases. He’s gotta find that secret sauce somewhere, right? So Lincoln teams up with local magician/hedonist Sheila Flambé (James) to help him tackle some of the most ridiculous cases the Strip has to offer—with, uh, mixed results.
Strip Law is a solid, if a little middling, entry into the Netflix adult animation roster, carried by strong voice acting and pop-culture zings. Adam Scott and Janelle James bounce off each other well as the classic straight man / wise woman comedy duo act, while Stephen Root steals the show as the sleazy opportunist lawyer Glem Blorchman.

With an animation style reminiscent of King of the Hill, Strip Law doesn’t always pull you in with its plot, but the colorful characters make up for it. The vibrant lights of the city and its even more vibrant inhabitants pair well with the rocked-out soundtrack to give this series a seedy Vegas performance feel.
If anything, this show loves to commit to the bit, and you’ll find yourself chuckling at the combo of wacky spectacle and real-life nonsense the characters spoof for kicks. Especially when every episode opening states, “Proudly made by real, non-computer human beings”—cheers to that!
Strip Law will appeal to those of us considered terminally online who also like to indulge in offbeat late-night comedy. It doesn’t hit all the time, but there’s something strangely appealing about its self-awareness that will keep you coming back for more.
