No one was expecting that last-minute assist from Bullseye. But that last throwing knife, with “You’re Welcome” and a bullseye carved into it, makes a nice parallel. Matt Murdoch showed us his calling card wth the interlocked red Ds at the beginning of Episode 1, and now Bullseye has shown us his. Looks like Poindexter is looking for absolution, but rather than holy water, he’s bathing in blood.
Deputy Mayor Daniel Blake is looking for the influencer who’s mocking Mayor Fisk online—and doing it from his headquarters—”Mayor Kingpin” is hilarious. The calls are coming from inside the house. Whose house? Blake’s. Because his crush BB Urich is looking for revenge. That’s what has me most intrigued about Season 2, Daredevil: Born Again is back on its parallels. The one that has me most surprised and intrigued is the pair of nieces who are closing in on the man responsible for their uncles’ deaths—BB and Angela del Toro. Fisk’s authoritarian NYC is pushing them to the edge. I just hope they come out on top because the Mayor is dropping bodies.
What should we be looking out for in episode 2, Julian?

Julian: Honestly, Sheila Rivera, Kingpin’s chief of staff. Eagle-eyed viewers of MCU stuff know what I’m talking about. Angela is another character to watch, as in the comics and previous cartoons, she becomes the inheritor of the mantle of White Tiger. She brings some great energy to DD and Karen’s ally group and is a needed other hero to the MCU. I don’t know if all the rose imagery in the episode is a clue to a future where Kingpin and Vanessa have a son in the MCU. In the comics, Richard Fisk becomes The Rose and tries to usurp his father’s place in the underworld, and is a thorn in the side of Spider-Man—remember folks, Kingpin is a Spider-Man villain. One day, we’ll get that righted in these movies and TV shows.

Sherin: Everybody is talking about the fact that Sheila gives Spider-Man the key to the city in the Brand New Day trailer. People have wondered why they would reveal that, but I feel like DDBA season two is so heavy—we needed that hope.
I can’t stop imagining Vanessa as a prototype version of The Rose. She continuously “throws a fit” in rose red clothes, and she seems like she wants to get out from under the Kingpin. At this point, I can see it. Vanessa seems like she wants to unleash her thorns.
Mayor Fisk is a genius for making Matt Murdoch a hero. He has everybody searching for either Matt or Daredevil without ever having to reveal Matt Murdoch’s secret identity. This man is diabolical. Beyond how he plays with everyone’s mind, there are a lot of deep psychological machinations from all sides. S2 isn’t so much a battle of who is the best fighter, but who has the best strategy (and the “associates” most willing to do whatever it takes to win).
Watching things go sideways in the bodega got me. It’s hard seeing Hector’s widow and Angela’s tita try to do the right thing to protect the neighborhood, but it gets her caught up with the AVTF. It’s scary because the task force is disappearing people. I thought the same thing you did: we’re going into Angela’s White Tiger origin story.
Dr. Glenn’s descent into villainy is spiraling. She’s traumatized from being attacked by Muse, and her need for safety has her hiding in the shadow of New York’s biggest bully.
But is Karen okay? She’s out here kidnapping people. Then again, she’s always been a revolutionary type of woman. So let’s see where this goes.
