“Killed Them All” Daredevil: Born Again – POSTMORTEM Season 2, Episode 3

“You’re a liar. You’re lying to us.” (whispers) “Yeah, he’s telling the truth.”

I need the laughs in Daredevil: Born Again S2 because it’s mostly a dark-mirror reflection of our world. Karen and Matt have solid chemistry. That makes both the drama and the jokes hit. It also makes Karen’s eventual crashout so relatable.

The AVTF (Anti-Vigilante Task Force) is boggling. They blindfold Kirsten to take her to an unknown location where they’re holding people in kennels. Only a few people get legal representation, and the charges are basically a mystery box. I was scared for Kirsten’s life.

I’m smiling that Lili Taylor is the governor. Mayor Kingpin is getting more work from women than from Daredevil and Bullseye.

“A farce [trial] presented in all its ugly glory by the man whose hand holds the scale.”
–Swordsman

What you got for this second episode of the week, Julian?

Julian: I liked that they have just one young AVTF regretful for their actions and became a mole for DD and Karen. I liked their good cop/bad cop schtick with him, too. The Kirsten McDuffie stuff is very tapped into a lot of recent events, not just directly current, but also stuff that happened in Chicago with Black youth, stuff in Texas, and more. It’s a smartly tapped into part of the storyline that honestly is more courageous than the comics in talking about this. Connor Powell keeps rising up the ranks of the worst MCU characters ever. He needs a fade so badly.

We get more Helen bugging out and having a breakdown. While her flirting with Buck makes sense and gives some Game of Thrones vibes, is it me, or does she have this weird romantic fascination with the Fisks? Like parental, but also into Wilson too. She’s all messed up from Muse choking her.

All the scenes with The Swordsman are great. I like how he respects what Kirsten is trying to do, but also knows it’s all for naught because Kingpin is hating. The kangaroo court scene is great, with more bugging ass Helen lying. The real highlight was getting to see Swordsman get busy with DD escaping from an illegal secret jail with the citizens. The back and forth with DD and him just dealing out the fades was wonderful. If I can’t get my guy in the Avengers and his connection to Hawkeye is gone, so all this has to make due for me.

Also glad we get more progression on the White Tiger plotline.

Sherin: I’m glad we got more with Angela too, and her passion for justice is so good to see. She and BB need to find their way to each other. It feels like Muse flipped a switch in Helen and now she’s an adrenaline-junkie for villainy.

Other than that, can I just say that every fight scene in this season is on a virtuoso level of graceful brutality (if such a thing exist).

And finally, “He killed them all” is a diabolical way to end an episode. We knew this was coming, but like Kendrick said: DAMN.
