PBS Renegades Aftershow #1: Judy-Lynn del Rey: The Galaxy Girl
Created by Rioter Day Al-Mohamed and hosted by award-winning musician and disability rights advocate Lachi, the incredible PBS American Masters series Renegades is a five-episode documentary that showcases the lives and cultural contributions of little-known historical figures with disabilities. To celebrate Day and the Renegades’ team’s excellent work, Geek Girl Riot will be bringing you weekly Aftershow segments that cover each episode.
The first Aftershow installment highlights Judy-Lynn del Rey, whose editing and publishing work revolutionized the world of science fiction. Rioter N. Renee Brown and guest host Mariette Largess chat with Renegades’ Episode 1 director Jeremy Hsing and writer Colin Buckingham about the amazing facts they discovered during their work on the project, approaching the documentary from a narrative perspective, and del Rey’s everlasting influence on sci-fi & fantasy. Renegades’ premiere episode ‘Judy-Lynn del Rey: The Galaxy Gal’ is available to stream on PBS now.
