Episode Appetizer: My Hero Academia: Vigilantes – “Crabtastic Rampage!” [s2e2]

My Hero Academia Vigilantes Season 2 – Teaser Art

We are so back, y’all. If last week’s episode was an appetizer, “Crabtastic Rampage!” is the whole damn meal. Operation drug bust is in full swing, and y’know what that means: The action really kicks into high gear.

Kaniko (Kana Ueda) might just be smarter than the rest—within a matter of minutes, she tracks down the contraband her team is looking for. What can I say, the girl knows her crab. Her team can’t help but be impressed (and so are we). But the case isn’t as open-and-shut as they expected, and the crablegs hit the fan, bringing the team face to face with the lightning-fast Scarred Man (Taku Yashiro)…or rather, face to…dust as he leaves ’em all behind. Taku Yashiro brings such menace to the voice of Scarred Man, you can’t help but lean in.

Now, if you’ve been clamoring for some more Fat Gum (Kazuyuki Okitsu), you’re in for a treat with this episode; when Scarred Man makes off with the evidence and sets the crab exoskeletons to go rogue, it’s going to take a special kind of hero to stop them. With an assist from Kaniko, of course, ’cause she’s got places to be.

Speaking of places to be, remember how we left our pals Pop☆Step (Ikumi Hasegawa) and Koichi (Shuichiro Umeda) goofing off in the middle of an idol convention in the last episode? Yeah, uh, they’re gonna need a hero or two to come help them out—and to save the whole idol venue. Gosh, the choices this group must make in order to save the day…this one’s gonna leave a mark.

“Crabtastic Rampage!” is My Hero Academia: Vigilantes at its peak—it has explosive action scenes, comedic quips, and a surprisingly emotional core. It’s electrifying in more ways than one, with the heavy metal score only making your heart race faster as you take in the despicably delicious danger. The BOOMs are not just spelled out here—they’re felt right in your chest. And you’ll be begging for more, more, more!
